The Sound Eaters don’t exist.

[Which could be said of any place, he assumed.]

I believe there is a time difference.

[ Egil doesn't think that's very specific, but he lifts a shoulder as if to both shrug and agree with him. There are always some sort of monsters somewhere. ]

[ Egil doesn't know if he can explain that most places are better than the one he's from. He shrugs again, staring down at his device as he types out the words. ]

[ The last part makes him pause, staring at the words before shrugging in that nonchalant way of his. ]

He wishes he could be honest and tell Erik that he'd killed the only person who'd ever mattered to him in his whole life, but it doesn't seem like something he should admit. It feels weak, and he doesn't want to be weak. Suddenly, too, he's tired, and rather than continue this conversation sitting, he stretches out onto Erik's bed. Because he can. ]
