if you do something bad -- like really bad, like unforgivable -- in your life before here

are you allowed to not tell anyone about it? or try to be better here? are you allowed to start over entirely?

Indeed. No law to speak of and yet the locals have existed in relative peace - there is a much bigger danger here than you or I, I'm afraid..

Past crimes will seem to pale in comparison.

No. But that is something that needs to be addressed in this new community as we grow.

The locals have worked with an eye for an eye basis, but otherwise, very little crime has happened here, by all accounts. The danger we all face seems to trump everything in their lives, but that is changing.

I do not have an answer for you, but new crimes should not be ignored.
