You're still new here, right? The folks at your job say anything about stayin' late?

I've been working in the greenhouse until I start up teaching. Which means my schedule is pathetically open at this point. But I have only been here a few days, so I think I get a pass.

Oh, so ya work with Eddie!

I can just wait for ya after your shift, then. My name's Majima. I figure you'll recognize me right away -- I'll be the one in the suit.

I always appreciate a man with a good sense of fashion. I'm Clara, by the way.

Mind if I ask how you know Eddie?

We're pals. Showed up here in the same batch.

[ It was a weird feeling, telling someone you were friends with a kid, but Majima figured it was true. So you know. Whatever.

'Pals', of course, was not really the right word here. Eddie was someone who insisted upon (and told, as far as Majima could reckon) the truth. And the truth was a lot for anyone to demand, here or elsewhere.

Most people who asked for it didn't really want it. ]

But if you're askin' something like that, does that mean you're someone from his hometown?

[She's not sure she can explain this. Or explain it in a way that sounds sane. There probably isn't one, so she just goes for it. How crazy could it possibly sound?]

Let's just say that we're something like family in my future. He found me my second day here and knew me.

[ That didn't sound crazy at all... mostly because everything here was already crazy. ]

Oh, I gotcha -- met someone once who knew all kindsa stuff about my future. That was a head trip, all right.

Weird feeling, ain't it? Someone who knows a you that don't exist yet.

Oh, it's definitely odd. But I'm getting used to it. This isn't my first time dealing with crossing my own timeline. Or someone else's, for that matter. The important thing is being there for him, I suppose. And learning how to be what he needs me to be.
