Hey. Mike here.
Just wanted to let housemates and others know Will and I got one of the private houses with land. It's the house with the Castle Wheeler-Byers sign. You're all welcome to visit if you're not a mouthbreather.
And fight club is always open to members. I know the rule is not to talk about it [ or so he’s been told - the movie doesn't exist yet from the time he's from ] but that's kinda impossible when you want more people to join. So if you're interested, let me or Hotdog know, okay?
Also, I know Eddie said the natives told him monsters from home could come here, so I wanted to ask everyone who has monsters from home to talk about them here. Then maybe I could put together a monster manual and make it available to everyone? Just in case more monsters start popping up so we all know what to look out for. I put together a form. If you can't answer everything that's fine. Maybe we can even compare notes to help us fight the sound eaters?
Here's an example:
Monster name: the demogorgon
Appearance: tall, thin, head shaped like a gross flower except with teeth inside
Strengths/abilities: really strong, tough enough skin to take a lot of damage including bullets, telekinesis powers, travels dimensions, rapid healing
Drawn by: blood
Weakness:Eleven?? unknown
How to kill the shit out of it:Eleven??? unknown
[ And here's a form if you'd like to fill it in! Not compulsory, feel free to troll. ]

Yeah, I do.
Seems like you're doing more here than you were at school.
[ assembling a monster burn book is a far cry from his less-than-stellar behaviour of the past year. ]

When you miss someone you stop caring about stuff.
[ Nancy of all people should relate to that. ]
no subject
Or maybe you stop caring about the bullshit and start doing things that really matter.
[ like unravelling government conspiracies or making survival guides — what he's doing now matters. ]
no subject
Or that.
I'm doing something good, right?
[ He can't remember the last time someone was proud of him about something and who knows, maybe this is just another one of his fuck ups to add to the past year. ]
no subject
But this is a side of her brother she doesn't normally see, so maybe she should focus on someone else's pain, this time. ]
You're giving people the information that they need to protect themselves.
That's like knight levels of good.
[ Are there knights in D&D??? Or levels?? She's down with the kids, aight. ]
no subject
Thanks Nance.
[ Huh. He hasn't called her that in years. ]
Are you gonna be okay in the house without us? Maybe you should get a place with Steve.
no subject
I'll be fine.
Besides, can you imagine what mom would say if I was living alone with a boy?
[ not that she really cares — but she and Steve are messy right now, so it's a diplomatic "no, thank you." ]
Are you and Will gonna be okay?
[ Mike's been here longer than she has and seems fine, but it's still a lot to be alone at their age. ]
no subject
[ Just, you know, not so close that she's living in Castle Byers-Wheeler. Mike needs his own space. The fact that they're not living under the same roof like they do back home probably means they'll get along a lot better, actually. ]
We'll be fine. We live near Frank now. Have you met him yet? [ Mike practically idolizes him. ]
no subject
[ which just...seems like the thing she's supposed to say, especially when she imagines Mike will have more trouble making dinner than surviving a creature feature. ]
Don't think I've met any Franks. Who's he?
[ please for the love of god be normal... ]
no subject
Frank is only the best person you'll ever meet?? Also goes by the name Hot Dog. He's everything a dad should be.
[ He could be your new dad too, Nancy!! ]
no subject
[ So what if that's an oxymoron; she stands by it.
But oooooh boy are his next words something she feels ill-equipped to process. Ted Wheeler is not a good dad, no. Or a good husband, if the way he talks to their mother is any indication. Hell, he probably only became a father because it fit his nuclear aspirations.
Nancy wonders if Mike means Frank is just some cool guy. The kind of person boys look up to instinctively, without any meaning behind it. She knows it might be more than that, however, when Mike isn't like most kids his age. Maybe Frank listens to Mike, or talks to Mike like he's is actually smart, y'know? 'Cause he is. Smart enough to snatch her spare change and hide a girl with superpowers.
Or he's some old dude hanging around kids. Who calls himself Hot Dog. Great. ]
He sounds pretty special. [ please... be normal... ] Has he been helping you guys out?
no subject
Yeah. He's been teaching me how to defend myself. [ That sounds better than fight and be a badass - he knows how his sister's mind works. ] I've just felt a lot safer with him around, you know? Keeping people safe is like his number one priority.
no subject
You know what I mean.
[ Know that she pulled a face, eyes rolling into the back of her head.
Then he goes and breaks her heart again. She thinks of Jonathan teaching her how to shoot, of practicing her swing with a bat — feeling strong absolutely makes a difference. She types "That's impressive" and deletes it. Then, she tries "I'm proud," but it's not right. ]
I'm really glad you've had him around, Mike.
Think you could take me in a fight now?
no subject
I know you're my sister but you can be part of fight club too. Just don't embarrass me, okay?
no subject
I promise I won't be too embarrassing.
