[ Collaboration was not one of his strong suits, but after a couple of cold nights and some preliminary investigation, Will decided it might be worthwhile to put the question to the group. ]

To my fellow garage dwellers, or those who are handily inclined, anyone else looking into ways to get a steady supply of heat into their garage? Or am I the only lucky one who needs to address this issue?

I mean not that I don't enjoy freezing cold floors in the morning, better than coffee for that wake up call, but if I don't fix this one of these days I'm going to be too groggy to stop myself from cursing aloud.

[ There is a pause, before he sends one last text, kind of like an afterthought. ]

Err also, just wondering, who all might be thinking of taking up perimeter patrols as a regular thing?

[ ooc: Threadjacking encouraged! But if not desired please note in the comment! ]

i can't help ya with the heat thing
i sleep out on the deck an it's not so bad but im used to that kinda thing so... maybe get more blankets?

[ So helpful, Naruto. ]

but about the patrol thing
i can do that! i'm used to doin wall patrols back in the world i come from, so i'm even pretty good at it!!

maybe make a fire
back in my world we use heat stones when we go out on cold missions
ya leave em in a fire for a few hours and then wrap em in your holster or even tuck em under your shirt to keep you warm for a bit
but i dunno what kinda stones they were, or if they exist in this world

[ Again, super helpful. ]

uhhh
im not bad at it???????
[ What do you want from him, dude. ] im good at spottin stuff and i can use my clones long distance to warn people even when the real me is far away
i used to hate doing patrol cos there was always better stuff to be doing but i think i get it now yknow
patrol keeps people safe and i wanna help do that if i can

Slippers help a little. If you find a better solution than those and blankets, I'd like to hear about it, too.

As for patrols... what are you hoping to accomplish?

I wonder if there are heat lamps around. That would do the trick, huh. Alternatively. there's also body heat if you're the sharing sort.

[You make of that last suggestion what you will....]

When you say "trouble prone" - are you anticipating the source of the trouble to be the natives or the Sound Eaters? Or something else?

NO ONE WILL LET YOU USE THE SOFA OR BEDROOM?

[Why are your housemates cruel, Will :'(]

DO WE NEED PERIMETER PATROLS?

DO YOU HAVE A BED, AT THE VERY LEAST?

I HAVE SOME FAMILIARITY WITH PARTS OF THIS CITY.

[Although... it's only the touristy areas...]

EVEN THOUGH MY KNOWLEDGE MAY NOT BE EXACT, I COULD DRAW YOU WHAT I KNOW. THAT COULD BE CHECKED AGAINST WHAT'S ACTUALLY THERE.

IT'S FASTER.

[There's a pause.

The previous responses were near instantaneous. This one comes just as fast, but there's a noticeable increase in the wait time.]

I'm sorry. Is this better?

[It is a compromise! Lu Li would give an explanation for her wild usage of capital letters, but she doesn't want to derail the focus of this conversation. Another time, when she won't have to explain so much.]

All right. I'm glad to know when I can "yell."

[Ha ha.]

In regards to the map, you could ask the natives. They seem willing to help, and I'd think that they'd know more about the area.

[That's actually a good reason for being wary of the information they're being given. Though Lu Li is partial towards them, she's inclined to agree.]

Even so, information is information. We could collect our own and follow up on the holes in theirs.

I'm rusty on my small talk.

I appreciate it.

[Overlooking their pushy attitudes when they first arrived (she sincerely wishes she could've been granted an exception in regards to the jumpsuit), Lu Li is already fond of them. Technology here is anachronistic, the communication devices close to modern yet the city appearing ancient. They had no reason to treat her like any of the other arrivals, yet they've been remarkably patient.]

I'm in if patroling becomes a thing around here. I'll even take the night shift.

Unfortunately, my credentials lie in biology, not engineering nor chemistry. I can perhaps help you think outside of the box. What is you plan to do in the garage aside from sleep?

As for performing perimeter patrols, I am a community guard. I suppose that would fall under my jurisdiction.

I covered the garage floor with various blankets/rugs to help with the sound of shoes on concrete, but it also does a good deal with helping with the cold. Likewise, blankets on the walls will keep out drafts while also helping to aid in soundproofing the garage itself.

Win/Win.
