[ There's an intense reluctance to use the device on Nic's part. It feels like giving in, succumbing to dependency when he doesn't need or want to. Doesn't change that there's a quickly building urgency to address an elephant in the room: he is well and truly alone here, no one is going to take the initiative to do it for him, and - well, withdrawal really sucks.
In the end, there's always something, and that's what makes him reach out. ]
does anyone here specialize in chemistry or medicine
[ If the answer is no, hey, he tried? ]

who's available who isn't who can who can't
hi I'm a doctor
no subject
[ Because he's definitely not. ]
i need someone to replicate some pills. if you're a surgeon or some shit that isn't gonna be much help to me.
no subject
[Because this is how someone establishes credibility. Okay.]
I do happen to be a surgeon but don't let my diploma fool you. I don't have it with me anyway. I'd be more concerned with you knowing the exact contents of said pills to replicate
[Among other things.]

[Also that some things don't change, even in this place.]
i don't but i've got the prescription bottle. that any help?
[There is nothing weird or shady about any of this, really.]

...are you really a dog?

[It might sound sarcastic but it's not. He's met enough non-humans to make it a valid question.]
Are you ill?
no subject
[ He gets the confusion, it’s the same on his end running into people around here. Still, that is one loaded question and not one he necessarily wants to explain in detail. ]
sort of.

a bunch of ways as to how you can die.
no subject
[ He’s pretty sure on some level this is not normal for human kids, but there’s also the disconnect of knowing very few. Still - ]
yeah? enlighten me.

(All right buddy you asked for this.)
okay well let's say you get a cut. Do you know how many different ways you could die from a single cut? I'm talking a decent gash too.
1. If it hits an artery you could bleed out in NO time
2. don't clean it? welcome to INFECTION CITY. People think oh, bacteria smachteria. GUESS WHAT. Staph infections. Staph infections can cause toxic shock syndrome which can be from certain strains of staph infections. This can give you high fevers, make you puke, and even KILL YOU
3. STREP THROAT. Yeah you can get STREP from a cut. Strep can develop into pneumonia if you're not careful and we all know you can die from THAT
4. Ever hear of a thing called flesh-eating bacteria? That's real and it will kill you.
5. Most deep wound infections usually have more than one bacteria in them so welcome to suffering in five different ways bucko
6. Tetanus. Oh yeah. It's a big thing.
That's just a CUT.
Don't get me started on what happens when you could drink dirty water. Worms and parasites are so disgusting and so dangerous. People can die of the common cold, for Christ's sake, because they don't realize how dangerously high fevers can get and then BAM. Dead. Dead as doornail.

if it's at the hospital i'd be surprised.
[ He's humoring the kid, mostly. Some of this he knows, and from first hand experience - Nic's got a collection of old, ugly scars and he can recall just how close he came to dying due to his own botched attempts at first aid. Still, this kid's fascination with sickness and death is kinda morbidly amusing. ]
you know a lot about this kinda shit. you some kinda doctor?

The name of the drug stunts him though.)
...Is that a medicinal drug? I've never heard of it before and I've taken a LOT of things.
do you know what's in it?
No. I'm no where near smart enough for that. Plus Im like 12. But Im studying to maybe be at least some sort of medic.

[ And by can be he means is. For everyone. ]
no. i just take it. used to get it from a doctor back home, but he's not here.
knew a girl back home that was about your age and she was training to be a nurse. sure you'll do fine.
[ LITERALLY NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS, Nic is super normal. Really. ]
no subject
I'm not sure I can help you then 😕 What did the drug do for you??
I hope so. I like being able to help people with this stuff.

[ Explaining all that Celebre does is a pain in the ass, less because he's afraid of the consequences and more because of the reactions it gets. Humans get a lot touchier about death than someone living on borrowed time. ]
keeps me from getting sick, and some other stuff.

My mom says crackheads steal kids organs if you get too close to them
or is this some kind of
other world drug and i just dont get the language
no subject
[ much sarcasm, but jeez, why are all these kids so damn sassy??? ]
it's something that isn't gonna make sense to you. i'm the only one here and it's a bunch of bullshit anyway, but the fact is i need that shit.
no subject
i dont know if youre serious but i know some people seriously do steal kids organs.
(Eddie's only survival mechanism is his sass okay.)
oh. Okay. So you're a not-human. Can you ask the natives for it? It seems like some people can get some pretty unique stuff from them
