Hello! My name is Merlan and I came through with the rest of the new people. This is a fascinating world to be sure. Haunted is kind of my thing, I guess. I'm psychic: Telepathy (my range is really wide and I can receive and send), Telekinesis (not really heavy things though, I can't lift a person, usually), and I'm really, really good with languages.

I'm also extremely good with magic, specifically Enochian, and also enchantments of various natures. Most of the times, spells need to be renewed on and off for effectiveness. Honestly, I like to figure out how to do things with magic and technology in entirely new ways.

In addition to that, if you need a mechanical engineer or someone to hunt and explore with, I'm pretty game for that.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all.

Well, hey there housemate.

Magic is one of those 'hidden from the general populace' kind of things. My family has some pretty good magic users in it and rather than be scared of it, learning was encouraged. My speciality came later but I was always quick to soak up pretty much anything I could.

I still haven't lost that appetite.

So theoretically, yeah, there could be magic anywhere. Think of magic as freely existing energy that can be redirected by people who have an aptitude for directing the ebb and flow of the energy around them. Focusing on words, ritual, or other techniques to harness that energy brings all sorts of possibilities to life.

Since magic itself is neither inherently bad or good, it all depends on the practitioner using it.

My magic does work here. I can definitely feel it. I've found that in certain situations where I've had to be silent, harnessing the energy I have as a psychic allows me to use Enochian in a prayer-song sort of way through my mental abilities.

Visualise the pattern and the sigils I need, sing it out psychically, and there you have it. I'm best with defensive and healing magic probably because I've always been a bit of a protector.

And I hope you don't mind me asking but what's a doctorate? Does that mean you're a doctor too?

I'd love a scarf, really. Right now I've got a gold one with emerald trim, I guess it goes with the emerald jumpsuit they gave me.

Ah, I am a doctor, yes, just not of medicine. A doctorate is the highest level of education in a particular subject. I've got a few of them, mostly because learning is pretty much my favourite thing. If I'm interested in a subject, I'll learn everything I can about it.
