[ It's taken him some time to digest the news about the true state of this world and the tapes, but he's hunkering down and trying to put on a brave face. Mostly for the Locals who are very scared. He figures most of the Arrivals have come across something similar in their own worlds. Only they had the equipment and means to protect themselves. These people do not. None of them do.
Despite all this, Vash is practically DYING that he can't ramble and be loud unit his heart's content, so he's doing the next best thing. Public journal. It is happening. ]
You know, where I come from there's not really any sounds except in the cities. It's desert as far as the eye can see, so I thought the silence here would be familiar, kind of normal. I spent a lot of time in the desert. But it feels very eerie here, I guess that's just cuz we're all straining to hear any sound! I wonder what a frog croaking would sound like. Or a bird calling. Whenever people talk about Earth that is the kind of thing they mention. Pretty crazy how all that can change.
But I'm glad the red dust chose some great people! I think we're all doing a good job helping here. Maybe someday we'll all have answers. And maybe get home.
[ This was all written at once, so no one can tell how long he sat there before typing it. ]
How many of you are planning on staying even if we do find a way back? I've been thinking about it. I don't think I'll be ready for a while. I've gotten use to trees. Silence isn't so bad. Especially when you have good company.
[ And then in an alarming switch of tone, he's on to something else. ]
Anyway, I guess to not make this so weird (but sometimes you gotta share your feelings right???) I'll wrap up with: Can anyone give a hand to an armless guy? I've got about a months worth of beard and it's not a good look on me! Clean shave in exchange for a drink on me? Sound like a deal?

i could help you out

Really! That's great. I'm afraid I'm beginning to look a little too scary to be in public.
Where would you like to meet? I can swing by after I've done my afternoon patrol. I don't think anything is likely to come up.

[ frank is too, but he'd been keeping it hush-hush. it seems pointless now that jessica's outed herself too, though. ]
come to my house, i'm not doing anything. [ well. not really. he pings vash's device with the coordinates to his new residence with his brother the natives set up for them. a large one-floor compound with land surrounding it like a mote. ]
private (1/2 quick log I guess??)
all right all right

[ God, he really has to think about this. ]
How do you know if there’s an Thomas under your bed?
Your head hits the ceiling!
[ Fucking nailed it. Tetora really seems like the kind of guy who will appreciate that. ]
And hygiene is important! You know where I come from technology is really lacking, so being able to say just whatever you want to anyone anytime is really amazing. I guess it could be used for important stuff too. But getting people to help you and sharing stuff about yourself is important as well!
What's your home like?
no subject
what kinda joke is that, i didn't get it.
[ he is not the most well-adjusted child, my guy, you'll have to help him out here a bit. the second question, though, gets him thinking. what is his home like? ]
there's a lot of crazy people in it
and a lot more tech to go around helping the crazy get crazier
it's not really a place i miss all that much

I lost it in an epic fight with a crab!
Lots of pinching.
Not great, I do not recommend.
But I think I have a chance of being a pirate now, what do you think?

What, you part of the underground or something? The people're fine, but I hate the quiet thing.

But as to your other question. I don't plan to stay here if I can help it.
no subject
That's very nice of you, but I don't think I'm brave enough to be able to do that. Sounds pretty dangerous! I've always had razors, guess I'm old fashion.
I see. I guess it is sort of lonely.
[ He's not sure if he should ask, if might be sensitive but as long as they're on the subject. ]
Have you seen any familiar faces?
no subject
I'd only just managed to get home before I showed up here. I mean to get back. [There's a pause before she answers his next question.] No, I haven't. There's no one I know. No one here has even heard of the land I'm from.

I'm just excited to talk to everyone. Is it really that weird?
Everyone is so dark and pessimistic...
[ Doing a great job of convincing everyone here, Vash. But hold on, that is way too good to pass up. ]
Are you serious? You could do that??

is your arm okay?
no subject
We just got to be good to one another and it'll influence those few. That's what I believe, anyway.
[ He's thinking of human monstrosities, not literal ones. These poor kids. ]
It is! I had a replacement, but it was taken when I arrived. Guess it was too noisy. Maybe some day I'll see it again.

port?? i guess you can call it
for a cybernetic arm

do you think we could go to another place instead?
no subject
I guess it's possible
someone would just have to figure out how to control it, but that's something I'm not familiar with at all. People use magic here, right?
where would you go?
