un: rugman | Voting results!

[Carpet and Merlan have been present every day this week to collect and tally people's ballots--if you'd like an action thread with either of them involving that, feel free to post it here! Now that the polls have closed, Carpet is excited to announce the winner, even if he's still a little shaky on the concept of democracy.]

Voting is over now, thank you to everyone who contributed! It was a very close race between Hot Dog and Teddy. Every vote really counted right until the very end!

Let's all congratulate and welcome our new Mayor Hot Dog together!

[For a brief time, before someone corrects him, that last line will read Sultan Hot Dog, rather than Mayor. If you respond to that, please note that it's pre-editing!]

Don't drink and vote.

Yeah I'm sure
Thanks though.

[ but also no thanks, he wouldn't trust constance even if she was the last person here. ]

I did it sober so I don't even have that excuse.

The election was between an actual dog capable of speech and a hot dog. And we have now elected a hot dog?

[Please forgive her. She might not have been paying much attention to the election. It hadn't struck her as that important.]

[That was, perhaps a relief. People had strange names, after all, and even if this was one of the stranger she'd heard, it was still nothing to be concerned with.]

I have not yet met this hot dog either. The idea of voting for a leader is not something I think about generally.

A traditional monarchy then? It is a common system. I am aware of methods like this, but whether there is a vote in Japan right now, I have little say in matters.

[Being 14 and debatably human.]

[Maybe someday, Sora will explain everything. From his time in Agrabah to meeting alternate versions of his friends. Today is not that day.

Having been to Agrabah, he knows better than most what kind of things don't exist and that Carpet might not understand.]

No, it was two fights. Fighting a pirate dragon would be scary.

Their names are Riku and Kairi. I lost them both and was traveling around different worlds looking for them.

Well, it's just a small part of a bigger place called France, which is a country that's part of a continent called Europe.

There are greater rulers of some places, but most big places like this have lesser rulers to watch over smaller sections. That way, people can be watched over in manageable groups. It's difficult for a single person to watch over everyone in such a large place.

And there are even places that give the entire adult population a say in what happens. They let them vote for a leader and for laws, kind of like how we all voted for the mayor here.

[ He's just. Going to pause between that message and the next one... ]

I'll do my best to live up to your expectations.

I am below the age of full citizenship, and I am not entirely sure about the details of my citizenship in any case.

[Heh, human laws and clandestine evil government cloning programs... what could you do?]

Well, I can't say something like that has never happened. Sometimes people do make a bad choice, but in cases like this, it's not permanent.

People can focus on picking someone better next time. Part of life is learning from mistakes. And some people are willing to fight to make things better, no matter what.

I do not usually question the laws I am under. I am generally too busy with my work.

[Yep, she was in the 'nothing you can do, so why worry' camp on this one.]
